The 2014 TCS regional race took place at Tamiya America's race track on Sunday March 30th. A total of 97 racers made up 136 combined entries in the following TCS classes: GT-3, GT-2, GT-1, F-1, M-Chassis, GT-Spec, FWD and 1/12GT. The most popular class of the event was the M-Chassis category followed by GT-2. New to the M-Chassis class for the 2014 season is the use of brushless 21.5 motors, which made the cars faster and more challenging to drive, compared to the strict RPM rules of the past using "silver can" motors included with Tamiya M-chassis kits. With the increased power drivers in the class had to make sure their cars could handle the increased speed. Overall, the increased speed made for some exciting M-chassis racing and it has brought a fresh element to one of Tamiya's longest running classes of the series. It also brought about a new winner as Orlando Sherman, who mostly races GT classes was able to defeat some of the most hardened and seasoned M-chassis racers in the California area. Two racers stood out at this year's TCS regionals race event. Julian Wong won both the GT-1 and GT-2 classes. It was no easy feat as he raced against favored racers who have logged in thousands of laps over the years at the Tamiya track facility. Tom Kahl also won two classes as he defeated his competition by winning the Front Drive and 1/12 GT classes respectively. Congratulations to all the winners!
