Tamiya Porsche Cup

Tamiya USA brings the long awaited and requested Porsche Cup R/C class to fans of Tamiya spec class R/C racing. The purpose of the class is to bring new and existing R/C racing fans a realistic, affordable, and fair way to race at local on-road racetracks across the United States. When Tamya introduced the first Euro Truck kit in 2016, it quickly became a vastly popular box stock class, not just for Tamiya’s TCS racing series, but also for weekly hobby shop race programs.

Tamiya Porsche Cup is intended to usher in the next fun thing that all race programs can integrate. The goal is to keep R/C racing fun, attract new fans, keep it budget friendly, and promote realistic Porsche race cars seen across the globe, like the Porsche 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 R!

The class rules are a mirror image of the popular Tamiya Championship Series (TCS) GT-Pro Spec class. The main difference is the exclusive use of the newly announced Porsche GT3 R (992) kit and the previously released 911 GT3 (992). The legal chassis, for the class, revolves around the TT-02 platform, a beginner friendly and budget-oriented machine. Additionally, the Hobbywing HW XR10 Justock G3S ESC and Hobbywing HW JS5 21.5 G2.1 or 17.5 G2.1 motor are the spec electronics to keep blinky-mode and motor wind shenanigans to an easily manageable process for tech-inspectors across the country.

While this is not a TCS class, the GT-Pro spec class is already in place and the most popular class in TCS, this class is meant to stimulate interest in Tamiya spec R/C racing for hobby shops, R/C tracks and R/C clubs that don’t currently run a TCS regional race. It’s meant to breathe new life into their race program with a realistic and budget friendly class.

Below are the rules:

About the class:

The GT Pro Spec -Porsche Cup class is a variation of the popular GT Pro Spec class run at official TCS regional races. *FINAL THOUGHTS Race directors and racing hobbyists may wonder, why not allow ANY AFTERMARKET OPTION PART for the class? Simply, we believe the moment the class opens to any option part made by any manufacturer, the class becomes an arms race and more costly than it needs to be. The intent of the class is to keep things fun and reasonably affordable, hence SPEC CLASS RACING.
